Malkangiri: Malkangiri police Friday seized an ambulance carrying ganja worth lakhs of rupees from Khairaput and arrested the driver.
The arrested driver is yet to be identified by police.
The illegal transportation of contraband came to fore after a patrolling van of Mudulipada Police tried to intercept an ambulance near Mathili due to its suspicious movement in the area. The vehicle was trying to cross the Mathili-Khairaput bypass road. While he tried to escape with the vehicle from the spot, he lost control over the wheels and the vehicle skidded off the road.
The patrolling team seized at least three sacks of ganja from the ambulance and took the driver into custody.
