Chhatrapur: A 91-member team of artistes belonging to five different tribal dance groups from Ganjam district met the President of India Droupadi Murmu, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi Tuesday, led by the Ganjam Collector, V Keerthi Vasan. The President had invited these artistes to Rashtrapati Bhavan after she was highly pleased and captivated with their presentation of tribal and folk dances representing the glorious history of the district and the entire state during her visit to Ganjam district August 4, 5. An atmosphere of immense enthusiasm and joy prevailed among the artistes and the state government officials on meeting the President at the iconic residence.
The President, posting in the official ‘X’ account, said that she interacted with a group of artistes from Odisha at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She emphasised that education plays an important role in the progress of individuals as well as society. The President urged them to encourage and support younger generations to receive education and acquire relevant skills. She said that they should embrace modern development while remaining rooted in their rich cultural heritage and traditions. Ganjam District Tourism Officer Partha Sarathi Hans da, District Culture Officer Aditi Acharya, and Chhatrapur Additional tehsildar Manoj Pradhan accompanied the delegation, which included artistes from five tribal dance groups.
