Combining make-up with attire so that the former accentuates the latter is the trick, beauticians suggest, to clinching a stunning Diwali look
With the festival of lights just around the corner, women have started fretting about their looks. After all, no one wants to look dull on Diwali day. On that day, every woman wants to be the centre of attention. They make sure they shine no less bright than the lights and dazzle like the diyas. Orissa Post brings some tips from beauticians so you look like a diva this Diwali.
Beautician Sulekha Patra says: “Looking gorgeous does not mean you need to use heavy make-up. Here are a few suggestions:
Highlight your best feature: If you think that the eyes are your best feature give them a pop effect. For a more striking look, draw a small wing. If you have translucent powders use it in between coating on mascara to plump up your lashes. If you want more attention to your lips, apply a dark shade of lipstick.
Flaunt simple-yet-glowing look: A simple minimal glowy look for day is the perfect idea for those who don’t want to go over the top with make-up. Prefer always minimum make-up, if the dress is already heavily embroidered. Select make-up depending on the dress. For a fuller look, apply a dash of pink or peach blush as they contour and define your cheekbones. Since it is a day for partying, use a nice red lip colour. Line your lips and fill them with red lipstick.
Sanjukta Das, a beautician based in Bhadrak, shares some ways to sport a trendy yet traditional look this Diwali:
Traditional attire: “During the festive season we all love to dress in traditional attire and so should be our make-up. Your make-up should accentuate your get-up. If the sari or salwar suit is too heavy it is ideal to keep the make-up simple and minimum,” she says.
Right colours: For a neutral look that suits any outfit, use gold on the eyelid and dark brown on the outer corner of the eye. Blend it towards the crease line to enhance the shape of the eyes. Finish with a wing liner on the upper lid and a thick black kajal on the lower. Wear a bindi. Use light pastel shades such as pink and purple on the eyes to add a tinge of freshness. Use light orange lipstick and mascara and foundation for all the looks.
