Haridwar: A 20-year-old girl of Pauri Gharwal was allegedly sold as a bride for Rs 1.50 lakh to a man in Karnal district of Haryana, reports said.
The man identified as Tejveer Singh married her and later raped her with his relatives. It was during the heinous act, the man revealed the victim that he had bought her for Rs 1.50 lakh and allowed her to be raped by his friends and relatives.
After coming to know the truth, the victim managed to escape from Haryana and reached Haridwar where she registered a complaint against six people, including two women.
Police said the victim stayed with her sister who works in a company in SIDCUL. The victim’s sister became friends with one Seema from Roshnabad in Haridwar.
Seema and her husband Sunil assured the victim’s sister that they know a good family in Haryana and arranged a meeting with them for the victim’s marriage.
Without knowing the truth, the victim got married to Tejveer Singh August 11. Since then, Tejveer raped her repeatedly on several occassions and called his friends to join him. When the victim resisted, he allegedly assaulted her and threatened to kill her.
The girl revealed that she had no knowledge of the dealing between Seem and Tejveer.
A case has been registered against Seema, her husband Sunil, Tejveer Singh, Poonam Singh, Balbeer and Dinesh under section 376 (rape), 370 (buying or disposing of any person as a slave) and 120 b (criminal conspiracy) of Indian penal code. Investigation is on in the case and we are trying to arrest the accused,” police said.
