Gopalpur: The Gopalpur police with the help of Surat Crime Branch (CB) Saturday arrested Pramod Sahu, the main accused in the 2017 gang rape here in Ganjam district.
Sahu was nabbed after a tip-off from Odisha police regarding his presence in Surat, police sources said.
Surat SP JK Pandya said the accused has been working in a factory for the last couple of months.
“The accused had raped a dibyang girl at a cashew factory in Gopalpur in November 2017. Based on the intelligence received from Odisha police, we nabbed the accused who was absconding after committing the crime,” said Pandya.
Sahu along with Shankar Reddy had allegedly gang raped the dibyang woman when she went out to attend the nature’s call.
Though Ganjam police nabbed Reddy, Sahu was absconding since then, sources added.
