Govt changes minimum qualification for SS

 

Bhubaneswar: The state government Wednesday fixed Plus II along with CT/ D EI Ed as the minimum educational qualification to be appointed as Sikshya Sahayaks (SS).

“The minimum qualification of SS has been fixed as Plus II with CT/ D EI Ed as prescribed by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE),” said a notification of School and Mass Education (S&ME) department.

After successful completion of three years of service, the SSs are being declared as junior teachers and subsequently after successful completion of three years, they are being absorbed as assistant teachers in the grade of Level-V of the elementary cadre, it said.

However, the Swechhasevi Sikshya Sahayaks and SSs, engaged and continuing as such having Matric/HSC with CT qualification will not be affected by the above change of minimum qualification for absorption in the post of assistant teacher, Level-V, the government clarified.

Meanwhile, the Orissa Primary Education Programme Authority (OPEPA) has requested the S&ME department to include Shikshya Sahayaks (SSs) under the Orissa Education (Employees Provident Fund and ex-gratia benefit) Rules 2017. 

If the government would execute the proposal of OPEPA, an extra-gratia of Rs 2 lakh will be paid to the next of kin of SS in case of death while in service and Rs 1.5 lakh in case of permanent incapacitation.
