Govt seeks support from DGP, collectors for smooth conduct of OTET

Bhubaneswar: The School and Mass Education (S&ME) department Thursday requested director general of police (DGP) and collectors to extend all possible support to ensure smooth completion of OTET-2017.
The Orissa Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) would be held September 25 and as many as 94,959 candidates will appear for the test that will be conducted mainly at district level and at some sub-divisional headquarters.

Citing the example of cancellation of HSC examination in 2012 following missing of question papers from an examination centre, S&ME secretary Ranjana Chopra did not want to take chances with the examination and sought support from DGP RP Sharma.
“In order to prevent reoccurrence of such an incident, adequate measures are required to be taken for smooth conduct of OTET as well as the state open school certificate examination,” Chopra wrote to Singh.
She urged Sharma to issue necessary instructions to the field level functionaries to make arrangements for safe custody of question papers during transit and storage.
The S&ME secretary also sought support from collectors to ensure dispatch of question papers to centres in advance for smooth conduct of  examinations.
“Render all necessary assistance to the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) regarding safe custody of question papers and maintenance of law and order at the examination centres for smooth conduct of OTET examination,” she said in her letter to collectors.
Besides, the secretary requested the Higher Education department to give necessary instructions to the colleges where examinations would be conducted.
