Bhubaneswar, Feb 1: The state government has decided to construct 130 hostels with a capacity to accommodate 100 students each in various blocks of the state in a move aimed at providing a safe environment for girls in various schools across Orissa.
The government has approved construction of the hostels as part of the model schools project in various blocks of the state.
However, the rural works department has yet to be allotted the land by the state government.
The rural works department has written to the state government asking it to hand over the sites for the construction of all the 130 girls hostels. Tenders for the project have already been invited.
Once the tenders have been selected by the rural works department and the land has been allotted by the state government, the work on the project will start, according to sources.
