Bhubaneswar: Expressing concern over prolonged delay in regularisation of contractual teachers, state government Wednesday asked all collectors for timely submission of their proposals in this regard.
“Although the regularisation should be an annual activity, yet the work is badly delayed every year causing large scale discontentment among the contract teachers. One of the common demands of the association of such teachers in every memorandum relates to this particular issue,” school and mass education (S&ME) secretary PK Mohapatra wrote to all collectors.
In order to streamline the process and also to ensure regularisation of services of this category of teachers in a time bound manner every year, the secondary education director, last year, had issued guidelines along with time schedules. However, many districts did not follow the deadlines.
“The deadline for submission of proposal for such regularization has been kept as February 15. But, during 2017-18, some districts have submitted the proposal in the month of September/October,” Mohapatra pointed out.
He said, one of the reasons for delay cited by many of the district education officers (DEOs) is that it was becoming difficult for them to get a date from the collector for the meeting of the District Screening Committee (DSC).
“I am aware of the tight schedule of the collectors and their difficulty in finding suitable dates for so many meetings held almost every day. But this being a sensitive matter, I request you to take out few minutes from your busy schedule and get the DSC meeting conducted in the month of February 2018 so that the DEOs can finalise and send the proposals to the directorate by February 15, 2018,” the secretary added.
