GRSs to be part of training programme

Bhubaneswar, Dec 6: All Gram Rozgar Sevaks (GRSs) working in different gram panchayats will now be involved in a skill development and training programme as community resource persons, panchayati raj minister Arun Kumar Sahoo said Saturday after holding a meeting in this regard.

The GRSs will collect required information about the unemployed persons of their respective gram panchayats and sensitise them about the various benefits of the livelihood skill development programme, he said.

Moreover, the GRSs will coordinate with the employers and ensure employment for people who have undertaken necessary training. Resource persons with the help of coordinators of the block, project implementation and skill development agencies will implement the programme, directed Sahoo.

In view of this, the GRSs will be provided an allowance of Rs 400 to train three persons and in gram panchayats where these sevaks are not appointed, the sevaks of nearby gram panchayats will assume the responsibilities till new appointments are made. The Gram Sevaks have also been directed to submit progress reports of the skill enhancement programme on a monthly basis.
