Gunny bags found inside packet in Bhanjanagar

Bhanjanagar: Even as online shopping has become a rage these days, buyers in this south Orissa town found themselves at the receiving end when some discovered scraps inside their parcels. One such online fraud case was reported here Tuesday.

Diptimayee Behera, daughter of rural water supply and sanitation department clerk Gangadhar Behera, booked some items online. A message on her mobile said the items would be delivered at her resident between April 21 and 23. However, the packet reached her place Tuesday. But she got shocked to receive two pieces of old gunny bags inside the packet instead of her ordered articles.

Gangadhar said he had earlier booked items through the agency (Snapdeal) and received what they ordered. However, this time they have received scraps, he said. He has sent a message to the agency over this and expects to get back the money in next 48 hours, Behera added.

In another fraud case, two youths of Kulad area applied for an online loan about a week back after they tracked it on a website. The company asked them to deposit 10 per cent of their required loan amount through a letter.

While one of them deposited Rs40,000, the other also went ahead with Rs50,000 as advance deposit without disclosing the matter before any one.  But they are yet to get the desired loans. They have lodged a complaint with Bhanjanagar police against the Bangalore-based fraudulent firm to get their money back.  PNN
