Mumbai: Actress Hansika Motwani, who stepped into Hindi film Industry from the Tollywood, celebrates her birthday August 9. She started her career as a child artist in 2003 television serial Shaka Laka Boom Boom. Hansika was born to businessman Pradeep and Mona Motwani in 1991.

Hansika attended Podar International School, Mumbai. Hansika is quite famous in Tamil and Telugu film industry. In 2003 Hansika worked in Hrithik Roshan’s film ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ as a child artist.

After this, in the year 2007, Hansika appeared in Himesh Reshammiya’s film ‘Aap Kaa Surroor’ as lead actress. The film was also a hit. In the same year, she signed Desamuduru (2007) which earned her Filmfare Award for the Best Female Debut — South.

After ‘Desamuduru’, Hansika’s fan following increased significantly. She produced many hit films one after the other. People were surprised when Hansika appeared in ‘Aapka Surroor’ after ‘Koi Mil Gaya’

At the time of Aapka Surroor’, Hansika was just 16 years old and but romanced with Himesh Reshammiya who was almost double her age. Hansika’s name also landed in controversy when her bathroom MMS was leaked and went viral.

Hansika had said that such videos are worse than rape, but Hansika did not break down. She is the only the second actress, after south film star Khushboo, to be idolised as living human goddess. Apart from films, she is the brand Ambassador of ‘Chennai turns Pink’, an awareness program to promote breast cancer awareness among urban women.

Talking about personal life, Hansika’s father left for heavenly abode shortly after her birth and the family shifted abroad. Hansika says that she is just her mother’s daughter. Hansika also does a lot of social work. She provides monetary support to 25 underprivileged children for their education and also takes care of the medical needs of 10 women suffering from breast cancer.

In 2014, Hansika’s name was included among the most influential women on the Forbes list.
