Happy Birthday Sagarika Ghatge: Lesser known facts of Zaheer Khan’s wife

She might be in news for being Zaheer Khan’s lovely wife but much before that, Sagarika Ghatge carved her space into our hearts with Chak De India! A model, an athlete and an actress, this leading lady is all about versatility!

Sagarika began her career as an Indian model. She later made her debut in 2007 with the role of Preeti Sabharwal in Chak De! India. In 2015, she participated in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 6 as a contestant and went on to be a finalist. She is a national level athlete.

Sagarika was born to Vijaysinh Ghatge and Urmila Ghatge in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, where she stayed till the age of eight. She then shifted to Ajmer, Rajasthan to attend Mayo College Girls School. She is related to a former royal house of India through Shahu Maharaj of Kolhapur, with her father being from the former royal family of Kagal and her grandmother, Sita Raje Ghatge, being the daughter of Tukojirao Holkar III of Indore. She has a brother.

In 2007, Ghatge portrayed Preeti Sabarwal, a fictional member of the Indian Women’s national hockey team, in the film Chak De! India, where upon she became the brand ambassador of Reebok India.

She has appeared in fashion magazines and various fashion shows. Ghatge appeared in the 2009 film, Fox as Urvashi Mathur. She later portrayed Kamiah in Miley Naa Miley Hum. Ghatge’s first lead role is opposite Emraan Hashmi in the movie Rush, which released 24 October 2012.

Ghatge appeared in Satish Rajwade’s Marathi movie Premachi Goshta with Atul Kulkarni which released in February 2013. It was her first Marathi movie. In 2015, she learned Punjabi for her debut Punjabi film, Dildariyaan. She was last seen in Irada. Currently she is filming for her upcoming film Monsoon Football.
