Koraput: Rama Pangi (22), a hardcore Maoist carrying a bounty of Rs 1 lakh on his head, was arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF) in this district Sunday.
A native of Bachelpadar under Chitrakonda police limits of Malkangiri district, Pangi was an active member of Gumma area committee under Malkangiri-Koraput-Vishakha border division of Andhra Odisha border special zonal committee of the outlawed CPI (Maoist).
Acting on intelligence input on atrocities of Maoists on innocent civilians in Hanumal under MachhKund police limits, BSF troops launched an operation and arrested Pangi along with four other militiamen.
A female hardcore Maoist cadre, Nayana Khillo, of the same group had surrendered before BSF DIG (Malkangiri) Barajendra Singh, August 16.
