post news network, Puri, July 16: With two days to go for the chariot of the Lord to roll, many people from the state capital are planning to visit Puri to take part in the mega religious event. In order to make the journey for the visitors hassle free, the state government has taken measures to remove even the minutest of the obstacles that may prevent you from gliding down the highway.
Although a larger portion of the road along the National Highway-203 has been made obstacle-free, a few impediments await the motorists. The pace of work on the flyover near the Pipli-Konark junction has been increased. However, a few spots still await proper attention.
Workers were deployed Thursday to give a final look to the Pipli-Konark flyover. Sculptures of gods and big signboards have already been put up on the site to woo the visitors. Work related to removal of clay and other solid particles strewn on the road was also done on the route Thursday to make it ready for the users in the days ahead.
However, minor work related to road construction was seen being done near the Malaitapur at the last moment.
Nevertheless, villagers residing near Sakhigopal are irked by the response of the authorities regarding their failure to complete the flyover project near Sakhigopal in time. Though the road was not usable Thursday, it stood witness to last minute hectic work involving machineries and personnel.
“We have been witnessing the work related to the construction of the flyover going on since long. The earth was dug out a long time ago and the work started late. Although the state government very well knew that Nabakalebara is coming and many people are expected to take the route to Puri, yet they did not bother to take the correct steps on time,” said Narain Rout, a resident of Sakhigopal.
Keeping in mind the prevailing situation, the workers and the officials are toiling hard to make it usable before the deadline, but pending work and truant monsoon may destroy the hopes of the officials.
