Cuttack: The Orissa High Court (HC) Friday granted conditional bail to SCB Medical College and Hospital Clinical Hematology department assistant professor Sudha Sethy who was arrested for allegedly showing undue favours to pharmaceutical firms.
Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo granted the bail on conditions that Sethy would furnish two sureties of Rs 2 lakh for availing the bail. This apart, she would cooperate with the investigation, would not influence witnesses and appear before the investigating officer when required, the court said.
Sethy had moved the HC for bail after a special vigilance court rejected her plea.
Sethy, Orissa State Treatment Fund (OSTF) nodal officer, was arrested by the anti-corruption wing of the state police in December last year on several charges including embezzlement of OSTF funds, misutilisation of government position, cheating and criminal conspiracy.
Apart from several Sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, the vigilance department had booked Sethy under Sections 409, 420, 34 and 120B of IPC.
