Cuttack, June 22: The Orissa High Court Wednesday sought replies from the Centre, state and other parties on a PIL pertaining to the alleged dilapidation of the Srimandir Jagamohan.
A division bench of Chief Justice Vineet Saran and Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi directed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the conservator of Jagannath temple, to submit a status report on Jagamohan renovation by July 20.
Abhishek Das of Telangabazar had filed a PIL in the High Court and informed it that the Jagamohan of Srimandir is in an unsafe condition and may collapse if it is not repaired quickly.
The petitioner had alleged that the Centre and state government have failed to take prompt action to renovate the crumbling structure. He had urged the High Court to direct the Centre and state to begin renovation of Jagamohan immediately.
The petitioner had also requested the court to constitute an expert committee to examine the status of Jagamohan at regular intervals.
