Bhubaneswar: While some places in Odisha are experiencing incessant rainfall, some places have been put on high alert for heavy rainfall till September 5 as another low pressure is in the offing, weathermen at the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here said Monday.
Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts have been issued ‘orange warning’ for Monday. These districts are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. At the same time, ‘yellow warning’ has been issued for Bolangir, Boudh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Bargarh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Khurda districts. These districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall.
Similarly, the IMD has alerted Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Koraput and Nabarangpur for September 3.
The regional centre has forecast heavy to very heavy downpour at Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Bargarh and Sambalpur districts and heavy rainfall at the rest of the districts, Tuesday.
For September 4, seven districts have been put under alert. These districts are Nuapara, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Koraput. Also the districts of Nuapara, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh will get lashed by heavy downpours, according to the regional centre.
Fishermen have been warned against venturing into the sea September 2 and September 3 as conditions will be rough.
Farmers of various districts have also been warned to tread on their farmlands carefully as lightning strikes are expected. The districts for which farmers have been warned are Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Puri and Mayurbhanj.
