Baripada: Even as the low-pressure induced rain continued at various parts of Mayurbhanj, the water level in Subarnarekha was on the rise, triggering the possibility of floods in riparian pockets. Creeks and other rivers have also been swelling as the people in low-lying areas were living with flood fears.
Meanwhile, collector Surendra Kumar Meena Tuesday visited the vulnerable areas and took stock of the situation.

According to reports, certain areas in the district received 19.87 mm rainfall Saturday; 49.58 mm Sunday, 58.33 mm Monday and 25.92 mm Tuesday.
Due to incessant rain in upper reaches, Subarnarekha received huge amount of floodwaters and the water level has been increasing.
Floodwaters are apprehended to enter villages such as Gadighati, Tikayatpur, Malikadiha, Bandhamundi under Rasgobindapur block and many villages of Neda and Koima panchayats under Saraskana block.
Surendra Kumar visited these areas Tuesday and reviewed the situation.
Officials sources said Shyamakhunta recorded a 322 mm rainfall Tuesday, Badasahi 27 mm, Batanoti 22 mm, Morada 27 mm, Rasgobindapur 13 mm, Kuliana 16.2 mm, Saraskana 16 mm, Suliapada 27.4 mm, Bangiriposi 24.2 mm, Baripada 20 mm, Khunta 24.8 mm, Gopabandhunagar 24.8 mm, Udala 25,5 mm, Kaptipada 34 mm, Bisioi 15 mm, Bijatala 33.4 mm, Rairangpur 46 mm, Kusumi 39 mm, Jamda 36 mm, Bahalda 27.2 mm, Tiring 38.8 mm, Jashipur 31 mm and Raruan 20 mm.
However, district emergency officer and deputy collector Dayasindhu Parida said currently no places have been facing a flood situation while the district administration was fully ready to deal the situation. PNN
