Brahmapur: A 28-year-old man was allegedly killed by a fast-food shop owner at Nimakhandi village in Ganjam district late Saturday night, police said.
The deceased, Tuna Nayak, was allegedly attacked by Raghav Sahu, 32, also from Nimakhandi.
Police arrested Sahu Sunday and seized two knives and his scooter.
Police said Tuna allegedly intimidated Raghav, who ran a fast-food shop in the village, and demanded extortion money.
He would also allegedly visit the shop with associates, eat without paying and threaten Raghav for money.
Saturday evening, when Raghav’s shop was closed, Tuna allegedly invited him for drinks.
The two went to a house on the outskirts of the village.
A quarrel broke out between them late at night.
Police said Tuna was heavily intoxicated.
Taking advantage, Raghav allegedly retrieved a knife from his scooter and slit Tuna’s throat.
Tuna bled to death, police said.
