Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the Hockey World Cup 2018, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik visited the Kalinga Stadium sports complex and inspected the progress of the infrastructure works here Sunday.
The World Cup is scheduled to be held from November 28 to December 16.
The Chief Minister took a look at the presentations and inspected the work being undertaken, including the specific corridors along the road, and expressed pleasure over the progress.
The CM also looked around the stadium and directed for expedition of construction work.
The entire stadium is undergoing a revamp. Both the practice turf and main turf are being replaced. Besides, two additional galleries, the seating capacity of the existing stands are also being increased.
As a part of the World Cup preparations, he also took stock of the Smart Janpath project site, under the Bhubaneswar Smart City project.
“Reviewed the progress of work at Kalinga Stadium and happy to see the pace of the beautification and modernisation work. I am assured that it will be completed well in time, ensuring a world-class experience during Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018,” the Chief Minister tweeted.

The 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup will be the 14th edition of the Hockey World Cup field hockey tournament.
As many as 16 countries, including hosts India, will participate in the 14th edition of the Hockey World Cup.
Apart from the Chief Minister, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Sports and Youth Affairs Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev Infrastructure Development Corporation Of Odisha and officials from Sports & Youth Services Department were present during his inspection.
