Bhubaneswar: Medical students Lozarin Sahoo of Cuttack and Chandrika Mishra of Puri are finally back in the safe haven of their homes. However, the memories of the war-ravaged cities of Ukraine still haunt them. Both Lozarin and Chandrika were students at Kharkiv National Medical University.
Lozarin was on the verge of completing her course, when the Russian invasion intervened. She had no option but to pack her bags and return to India and Cuttack.
Lozarin can still remember the vivid scenes when locals at the Kharkiv railway station prevented them from boarding trains in an attempt to flee the war-torn city. She still shudders as she talks about a missile strike close to her as she and her friends were walking towards the Romania border. All those incidents come back to haunt her time and again. Finally she and her group of friends managed to cross over into Romania. They were put up at a shelter for two days before being taken to the airport from where she boarded the flight.
Chandrika’s family is very happy that she has safely returned back home. The family members are not concerned about what she will do next. On the other hand, they just want her to recover from the perilous journey which she had undertaken. They thanked both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the safe return of Chandrika.
Lozarin meanwhile informed that once the invasion subsides, her professors will start online classes. She is hopeful of finishing her course and getting a degree so that she can start practicing her craft.
