Cuttack, April 19: Hosts Biswabharati Cricket Club (BCC) won the title defeating Rising Students by 42 runs in the final of the Pradipta Memorial cricket tournament, which concluded at the SCB Ground here Sunday.
Opting to bat first, BCC posted 252 runs for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 40 overs. Rashmi Ranjan Das (98, 55b, 1×4, 2×6) batted brilliantly. He was well-supported by PR Sinha (40, 60b, 6×4).
In reply, Rising Students could manage only 210 in 37.3 overs despite a valiant knock by Bikash Pati (84, 106b). Prashant Sahoo (3/35) bowled well for BCC.
Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) secretary Asirbad Behera was present as chief guest and distributed the prizes.
Champions BCC bagged a cash prize of Rs 30,000 along with the winners’ trophy, while RSC took home Rs 20,000 and the runners-up trophy.
