Housing loan disbursal stands at Rs 1,012 cr in H1

Bhubaneswar, Nov 15: Commercial banks in the state disbursed around Rs 1,012 crore of housing loan and Rs 106 crore of education loan in the first half (April-September) period of the current financial year, a report of State Level Bankers’ Committee said.

In housing loan segment, the amount has been disbursed to 11,978 account holders. 6,422 account holders have received the education loan during this period.

Giving an account of outstanding amount, Rs 9,567.05 crore is outstanding the home loan category which will be provided to 1,80,604 loan account holders. Similarly, the balance outstanding in education loan category by September, 2015 stands at Rs 2,182.59 crore in 73,072 accounts.  

As per the SLBC report, public sector banks disbursed Rs 761.69 crore of housing loan in the first half of this financial year. This number for private banks stood at Rs 205.70 crore during this period.

Among public sector banks, State Bank of India had the highest disbursal of Rs 377.28 crore to 3,733 accounts. This was followed by UCO Bank with Rs 66.76 crore of disbursal to 586 accounts. Among private sector banks, Axis Bank led the way with Rs 101.15 crore disbursal to 454 accounts. ICICI Bank was in the second spot with Rs 96.60 crore of disbursement to 312 accounts.

In the education loan category, total disbursal by public sector banks stood at Rs 103.47 crore to 6,152 accounts. However, it stood at meager Rs 1.13 crore for private banks. Highest amount of education loan was disbursed by the State Bank of India at Rs 32.70 crore to 724 accounts during this period.
