Jatni: Police recovered a human skeleton dumped amidst thorny bushes at Kusumati village under Jatni police limits Monday.
The skeleton was found near Liakhai pond in the village, just 100 metres away from human habitation. The skeleton lay scattered around the site, and some of the bones were found buried, said a police official. A red vest, a pair of shorts, a pair of slippers and a black wristlet were recovered near the skeleton.
A group of workers who engaged in renovation work of Liakhai pond first spotted the skeleton and informed police. The skeleton is suspected to be of a male person. Miscreants might have murdered him and dumped the body in the bushes, police said.
The skeleton will be sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack and a DNA test will be conducted on it to ascertain identity, said inspector of Jatni police station, Sujit Kumar Pradhan.
