JK Pur: The idol of goddess Manileswari, made of eight metals was allegedly stolen from the temple at Khedapada in Therubali under Kolnara block of Rayagada district in late Thursday night.
According to sources, The chief priest of temple, Prartap Singh left for his home after locking the temple’s main gate in the night.
However, his mother, who comes to the temple in early morning to sweep the temple premises daily, found that the main gate as well as the Jagamohan was broken. Soon she alerted her son in this regard.
Later, Singh and the villagers informed the Chandili police regarding the matter, basing on which the police reached the village.
A scientific police team and dog squad were also engaged into the probe.
