New Delhi, March 20: It’s almost final now. The new IIM will be set up near Bhubaneswar.
The Union HRD ministry has taken a decision in this regard and the final notification is expected soon, according to sources. The ministry’s note on the matter has gone to the PMO, sources said Friday.
There were 19 proposals before the HRD ministry suggesting names of different locations in Orissa for setting up of the premier management school. Most of these had come between September 9, 2014, and January 1, 2015.
Among the prominent leaders, tribal affairs minister Jual Oram had proposed that the institute be located in Rourkela, while petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan and BJD MP Rabindra Jena had suggested Balasore.
BJD MP Kalikesh Singh Deo had rooted for Bolangir, while Congress MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati had said that it should be located in Koraput.
After considering all the criteria and holding consultations with the central panel, the ministry is learnt to have zeroed in on Bhubaneswar for setting up of the premier business management school.
The Orissa government had proposed to the ministry first to finalise a location near Bhubaneswar and then also put forward a proposal for Sambalpur.
