Joda: The state government has introduced modern technology to check large-scale tax evasion in iron ore mines and irregularities in iron ore types under Joda mining circle in Keonjhar district, a report said Wednesday. The state government has applied this new technology for the first time ever, sources from the Mining department said.
As part of this move, an IoT (Internet of Things) device has been installed at the office of the deputy director of mines in Joda, February 13. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of physical objects— “things”—that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies for the purpose of connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over the Internet. This new device using advanced technology will help check manipulation and fraud in the determination of mineral types and bids by some unscrupulous traders to obtain clearance for transportation by citing the iron ore as of very low quality.
Sources said that GPS technology will apply a random generation sampling location method to collect mineral samples from mines which will be checked later in an IoT device to determine its quality and grade. This method will keep the name of the mines a secret and the quality of minerals can be known by using a QR code. No irregularity can be carried out or unfair methods can be used in the process to conceal the mineral quality. Earlier, some unscrupulous leaseholders used to conceal the iron ore grades to avoid paying tax.
