Induct 20% more manpower to tackle nCoV Govt to DMs

Bhubaneswar: With the rise in Covid-19 cases in the state, the government has asked the district Collectors to engage 20 per cent additional manpower for the management of Covid related works.

Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department has instructed all Collectors, Municipal Commissioners and head of all medical institutions to engage 20 per cent more healthcare professionals than the sanctioned strength for Covid duty.

“As part of preparedness to tackle the situation arising on account of the recent resurgence of Covid positive cases in the state, the government has now been pleased to allow 20 per cent additional manpower over and above the norms on outsourcing basis for Covid treatment facilities by the district authorities and superintendent of medical colleges for a period of three months (from May to July),” the department said in a letter.

As the family members and relatives are not allowed to attend their patients in the Covid hospitals, it is necessary to engage more manpower including auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMs), staff nurses and attendants beyond the Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) norms, it said.

The additional deployment of health staff will be done for a temporary period on outsourcing basis.
