Bhubaneswar: Janmejaya Mohanty of Orissa finished fifth in the recently concluded Mr Asia Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships at Bangkok. A total of 45 participants from different countries across the globe had participated in the competition.
Janmejaya expressed satisfaction over his performance. “It was a pretty tough tournament and I am happy to finish within top five,” he stated.
Top teams qualify
Top teams qualified for the second round of the East Zone Inter-University cricket tournament, which started Thursday at the KIIT Stadium here.
Rabindra Bharati University, Guwahati University, LN Mithila University, Sambalpur University, Dibrugarh University, and hosts KIIT are the teams to advance to the second round.
After the cricket meet, KIIT will host the National University Games for All India Archery for men and women, All India Inter-Zonal Men’s Basketball and Men’s Tennis tournament December 26-31.
Squad announced
Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) announced Wednesday a 15-member squad that will face Tamil Nadu in a Group A match of the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy from December 25-28 at Tirunelveli. Raghunath Malla has been retained as the captain of the side. The squad: Raghunath Malla (C), Swastik Samal, Jyoti Ranjan Behera, Somen Chand, Sibashish Sahoo, Krishna Palei, Binit Mohanty, Biswajit Mallick, Pritam Jena, Kunal Malick, Sekhar Majhi, Sourav Gouda, Ayaskant Sahu, Sisira Behera, Yasin Quereshi; Coach: Saurabh Sehgal.
Cricket tourney
The 18th Santosh Memorial Cricket Tournament will commence from December 24 and will end December 31, organisers Rasulgarh Cricket Club announced Thursday. A total of 16 teams, divided into two groups will participate in this eight-day long tournament. The teams are IRC BBSR, BCC Cuttack, Summer Set BBSR, Blue Moon UTC, Forest XI BBSR, Bindass CTC, JMD BBSR, Charge XI CTC, RCC BBSR, Laxminagar BBSR, Wing 2000 BBSR, Hot Star CTC, Bomikhal BBSR, Jajpur and Bapi XI BBSR.
