Janmejaya wins Mr India crown

Bhubaneswar: In a major blow to Orissa Body Building Association (OBBA), Janmejaya Mohanty representing West Bengal won a gold medal in the 80kg category at the recently-concluded NABBA IVth Mr India competition at Gurgaon, Sunday. In fact, Janmejaya, earlier this week had quit the OBBA citing nepotism and corruption.
Janmejaya also qualified for the Mr World competition to be conducted, June 2107 in Russia. “With this gold medal performance, I have proved that I have the talent, but I had been continuously neglected by the officials of OBBA,” he stated here Monday.
Saswat shines
Saswat Mohanty (69, 190b, 12×4) scored a fighting half century to guide Orissa past the 200-run mark on the opening day of their U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy match against Tripura at the MBB Stadium in Agartala, Monday. At stumps, Tripura were 12 for one in reply to Orissa’s 201-run first innings total.
Put into bat, Orissa failed to build momentum from the start as they were reduced to 88 for four. But Saswat, along with Subhankar Biswas (31, 78b, 6×4) added 64 runs for the fifth wicket to give the bowlers of his side something to bowl at. Kajal Sutradhar (4/38) and Amit Ali (3/33) bowled well for the hosts.

Berhampur lose
Berhampur University lost to Patna University by 45 runs Monday in the inaugural match of the East Zone Inter-University Women’s cricket tournament being hosted and organised by Ravenshaw University at  Cuttack .
Opting to bat first Patna scored 109 all out in 26.3 overs. Ranjita Majhi (3/13) and Puspa Kunaka (3/3) bowled well for Berhampur.
Chasing a victory target of 110, Berhampur’s innings never took off and they were eventually bowled out for 64. Komal (4/11) turned out to be the pick of Patna bowlers.
