Cuttack, July 8: Jasmani Samad scored both the goals as Orissa scripted a narrow 2-0 win over Goa in their first game of the quarterfinal league stage at the Barabati Stadium here Friday. Jasmani scored the goals in the seventh and 67th minutes respectively. In their next game July 10, Orissa will face Manipur.
The second league encounter between Jharkhand and Manipur was abandoned due to incessant rains and has been rescheduled for Saturday.
3rd gold for Pratyasha
Orissa swimming sensation Pratyasha Ray secured her third gold medal in the Junior National Aquatic Championships at Basanavgudi Swimming Centre in Bangalore, Friday. She stood first in the 200 metres backstroke with a timing of 2:35.57 seconds while Delhi girl Tanisha Malviya (2:38.32s) and Tamil Nadu’s R Jahnavi (2:39.55s) bagged silver and bronze medals respectively.
