Bhubaneswar: The Jajpur police Saturday arrested absconding accused Amaresh Rout in the infamous Jharaphula Nayak murder mystery. Amaresh is a close aide of prime accused Rakesh Kumar Swain, the alleged boyfriend of the deceased Rama Devi University student.
According to sources, Amaresh has been arrested by the Jajpur police from Sundarapada area under Airfield police station here.
However, another accused Jyoti Sekhar is still on the large. Jyoti was reportedly driving the scooter which was used to carry the body of Jharaphula from a hotel at Khandagiri area to Kaukhia in Jajpur January 27.
Sources claimed that the prime accused, Swain with the help of other two aides strangulated Jharaphula to death at a guesthouse in Khandagiri area, where the duo had spent a night together January 26. The body was dumped near Kuakhia, 90 km from Jajpur, to destroy evidence. Police sources also claimed that Rakesh confessed to the crime before investigating officials during interrogation.
However, the Jajpur police are yet to make public the actual reason of Jharaphula’s death and persons responsible for her death. The death of Jharaphula is still shrouded under mystery.
