New Delhi: Union Minister for Coal and Railways Piyush Goyal Monday patted his own back for completing the Jharsuguda-Barpali railway line, and counted it as one of the achievements of his ministry in the last four years.
Addressing a press conference on the achievements of the NDA government, Goyal talked about the projects undertaken by his ministries for ensuring adequate coal supply and for developing railway lines. He boasted about his new railway projects that ensured coal supply.
He said, “Coal loading by Coal India has increased from 195 rakes per day in 2014-15 to 230 rakes per day in 2017-18. Timelines for execution have been set for 14 critical projects for evacuating coal. Further, to ensure adequate coal supply… the Jharsuguda-Barpali (53 km) railway line in Odisha has also been completed.”
The Union minister tried to evade Odisha unlike last year as he refrained from interacting with the state media through video conferencing from Bhubaneswar while he allowed it for other states even though Odisha is a coal bearing state.
This year the minister arranged video conferencing with Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Chennai, Guwahati, Imphal, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Pune, Patna, Raipur and Ranchi, but left out Odisha. He also seemed evasive on state specific questions during his press conference here.
