Jharsuguda woman joins ‘at-home’ reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan

Jharsuguda: Bhesamati Naik of Tileimal village in Laikera block of Jharsuguda district attended the prestigious Independence Day ‘At-Home’ Reception hosted by the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi Saturday, bringing recognition to Odisha.

Naik, who comes from a financially disadvantaged background, began her career after undergoing hospitality training in 2016 under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDUGKY) programme being implemented in Odisha with the support of the Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS).

After training, she initially worked in Ooty, Tamil Nadu, earning Rs 6,000 a month. Over the years, she gained experience and steadily progressed in her career. Through determination and hard work, Naik has since progressed to a position at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Sambalpur, where she earns Rs 35,000 a month working as an office attendant.

Jharsuguda Collector Kunal Motiram Chavan felicitated Naik at his office August 14 and congratulated her on the achievement. ORMAS Deputy CEO Yuvraj Sahu was also present. Naik’s journey is being hailed as an example of how skill development can help rural youth achieve economic independence and build successful careers.
