Joint marine security drill February 24

Bhubaneswar: A joint maritime security exercise will be held along the Orissa coast February 24, according to a decision taken at a meeting held by home secretary Asit Tripathy at the secretariat here.

The exercise will test the alertness of the maritime security forces and their capability to deal with real-time crisis.
The exercise will involve various agencies, such as the state government, Indian Navy, Coast Guard, ports department, maritime police, said naval officials after the meeting at which state government officers concerned were also present.
“Considering the 480 km coastline of the state, we will have to remain alert for any eventuality,” said the home secretary.
The exercise conducted last year was a success, he said adding Tuesday’s meeting also discussed the mode of conducting the first exercise of this year. PNN
