Telkoi: In a shocking incident, a girl belonging to the Juanga tribe was gangraped at Binjbahal under Telkoi police limits in Keonjhar district, according to a police complaint lodged by the victim Friday.
The incident had taken place late Thursday night and five youths were involved in the crime.
The complaint said three Juanga girls had come together to see an opera programme at Binjbahal on the occasion of Panchu Dola.
Taking advantage of darkness at a place there, some youths had tried to harass the girls. However, two girls managed to escape from the youths.
The youths later gangraped the third girl, leaving her unconscious. After several hours, her friends came to the spot and rescued her.
The police registered a case and got the victim medically examined. “The police have started an investigation and the culprits will be arrested soon,” said IIC of Telkoi police station Padmini Meher.
