Bhubaneswar: Juvenile Sporting, Cuttack entered the final of the Puspalata Garabadu Memorial Masters cricket tournament after beating Young Veteran, Bhubaneswar by four wickets in the second semifinal match at the Town Club Ground here Saturday. Juvenile will meet Saheed Sporting in the final Sunday.
Opting to bat first Young Veterans faced initial batting debacle and were eventually bundled out for 108. Sandip Ratha (46, 27b) played a brisk knock, but could not get any support from the other end. Md. Badruddin (4/17) and Sanjay Khuntia (3/13) bowled brilliant spells to restrict the opposition.
In reply Juvenile knocked off the target in 16.4 overs for the loss of six wickets with Sanjay Khuntia (37) leading the run chase. Dipti Patnaik (2/8) was the most successful bowler for Young Veteran. Badruddin was adjuged man of the match for his fine bowling.
OUAT win
OUAT defeated BC Krishi Vidyalaya by three wickets in a match of the East Zone Inter-University cricket tournament at KIIT, Saturday. However North Orissa University lost to Veer Kunwar Singh University by seven wickets.
In other matches North Bengal, Tripura, LN Mithila and APS varsities won against BRA Bihar, Patna, Jadavpur and Kalyani Universities respectively.
Selection camp
Bhubaneswar Athletic Association (BAA) will organise a selection trial camp at the Kalinga Stadium here Tuesday for the State Athletic Championships to be played at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, December 28-30. Interested athletes should contact BAA officials immediately.
