Home Guards have been deployed to assist police with crowd management and other security measures as large numbers of devotees are expected to visit the puja pandals.
Police have also introduced traffic restrictions as part of the festival arrangements. Four-wheelers will not be allowed to enter the city after 4 pm to help ease congestion during the celebrations.
The DGP’s inspection also focused on locations where disturbances were reported last year, with police holding discussions with residents in those areas.
