Kataka: Kataka district will be developed as an export hub with a focus on its famed silver filigree and Mani abandha handloom products, Collector Dattatraya Bhau Saheb Shinde said at an export awareness program held.
A common facility centre for handloom artisans will be established at Abhimanpur, while another common facility centre for silver filigree artisans will be set up in Kataka.
Various measures being taken to boost exports from the district were also discussed at the program organised by the Directorate of Export Promotion and Marketing under the Odisha government’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department in the collector’s new conference hall.
The program was organised with the support of the District Industries Centre, the Director ate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Kolkata, and the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), Odisha chapter.
During the technical session, officials discussed export promotion, standards, logistics, postal services and various support mechanisms related to exports.
Officials and representatives from DGFT, FIEO, the Bureau of Indian Standards, India Post’s Kolkata City Division, the Export Credit Guarantee Corporation and the District Industries Centre made presentations on different aspects of exports.
Local entrepreneurs, artisans and other stakeholders attending the program learned about export procedures, opportunities in international markets and various government support schemes.
The program also highlighted the potential to take Kata ka’s traditional silver filigree and Maniabandha handloom products to wider domestic and international markets.
An exhibition showcasing local products was also organised.
Additional Collector Ipsita Priyadarshini Mishra, DGFT Kolkata Deputy Director General Himanshu Dhar Pandey, District Industries Centre General Manager Manoj Kumar Mahapatra and FIEO Odisha chapter head Kamal Sahu, along with senior officials and representatives from various departments, attended the program.
