Bhubaneswar: Kendrapara Contenders (KC) and Sambalpur Shooters (SS) entered the final of the Orissa Tennis Premier League (OTPL) after winning their respective semifinals against Angul Acres (AA) and Khurda Warriors (KW) at the Kalinga Stadium here Wednesday. The final will be played Thursday. In the semifinals KC scraped past AA 3-2, while Shooters walloped Warriors 3-1.
AA started well with Rahul Kumar beating Aditya Satpathy (KC) 6-0, 6-0. However, KC came back strongly with Rutuparna Choudhury trouncing Ankita Panda 6-0, 6-2.
AA, however, took the lead again when the men’s doubles the pair of Kabir Hans and Aditya Satpathy overcame Chandra Sekhar Mohanty and Sidhanta Sekhar Mohanty (KC) 6-2, 3-6 10-4 in a hard-fought encounter. However, in the mixed event Rutuparna and Chandra Sekhar (KC) hammered Aditya Narayan Guru and Ankita 6-1, 6-1 to restore parity for their side. However, with Chandra Sekhar beating Kabir in the last match, KC sealed a place in the summit clash round.
