Chhatrapur, Jan 20: Jyotshna Rani Nahak, chairperson of Khallikote notified area council (NAC) in Ganjam district Wednesday resigned from her post, a day after eight councillors of the civic body urged the collector to bring in a no trust motion against her.

Nahak met collector Prem Chandra Choudhury here in the morning and tendered her resignation. Claiming that she was resigning over personal reasons, she urged Choudhury to accept the resignation. She also submitted a copy of her resignation to the executive officer of the civic body and faxed the same to the additional secretary, urban development and the director, municipal administration.

Eight out of 12 councillors of the civic body Tuesday met the collector at his office and urged him to convene a meeting to move a no trust motion against Nahak protesting the ‘whimsical way’ of her working.

The eight councillors accompanied by two more met the collector again Wednesday and submitted a letter expressing their approval for the no confidence motion.

Councillors Bipin Bihari Samanta, Manjubala Goud, Lily Sahu, Sasmita Behera, Bigyani Parida, Annapurna Panda, Jyotshna Rani Pradhan, Shakuntala Behera, Gitanjali Pradhan and vice-chairman Chitta Ranjan Majhi were found signatories to the letter.          PNN
