Bhubaneswar, May 2: Commissionerate police Monday recorded the statements of all concerned parties in the case pertaining to alleged cheating by Air Odisha Aviation private limited (AOAPL).
City-based jeweler Mitesh Khimji recorded his statement before Khandagiri police and alleged AOAPL has embezzled their Rs 1.5 crore.
“AOAPL had promised to give us 40 per cent of its shares in return of our investment of Rs 1.5 crore into it. AOAPL officials had asked us to invest as they were running short of the capital to run their services in the state. They had said they will open a joint account of AOAPL and Khimji in which the government gives subsidy and the amount collected from online ticket booking will be transferred. But, all these conditions were never met by AOAPL officials,” lawyer of Mitesh said.
“They haven’t transferred shares to anyone till date. Mitesh was to get 40 per cent, I was supposed to get 10 per cent and another investor was to get 10 per cent of the shares,” Tridev Rout, who claims to be a share holder of the controversial firm, said.
However, Air Odisha rejected the allegations of the city based jeweler saying required share certificates were issued to them.
“The complaints filed by Mitesh are not based on true facts. Mitesh and Tridev are tarnishing the image of Air Odisha,” legal advisor of the firm advocate Babita Kar told this newspaper.
The recording of statement comes after a direction by the SDJM court to the commissionerate police to register a case against the aviation company and its directors under Sections 406, 417, 420, 506 and 120 (B) of IPC and investigate the matter. A cheating case was filed against AOAPL and its board of directors before the SDJM court here April 28 for duping the city-based jeweler of Rs 1.5 crore.
