Bhubaneswar: A high-level meeting on the proposed Khurda–Tangi–Visakhapatnam–Vijayawada expressway and high-speed corridor was held at Lok Seva Bhavan Monday.
The meeting was chaired by Works Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh. During the meeting, officials discussed proposed plans for the new six-lane greenfield high-speed corridor passing through Odisha.
Discussions included district-level routes, connectivity with economic zones and cities, land acquisition, and other implementation details.
The corridor will stretch a total of 522 km within Odisha, connecting 27 cities across nine districts: Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Koraput.
The project aims to enhance connectivity to mineral-rich and industrial regions, facilitate better access to ports and coastal economic zones, and provide a major boost to the state’s development.
The new corridor is part of a 1,102 km route spanning Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Andhra Pradesh, with 522 km being newly constructed within Odisha.
District-wise road lengths within Odisha will include: Ganjam – 97 km, Dhenkanal – 88 km, Mayurbhanj & Keonjhar – 86 km each, and Rayagada – 53 km.
This corridor is expected to significantly enhance regional connectivity, promote industrial growth, and support Odisha’s economic development trajectory.
