Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: KIIT advanced to the semifinals of the SOA Premier League (SPL) cricket tournament trouncing GITAM University by 87 runs in their concluding Group-B match at the SOA University stadium here Friday.
Batting first KIIT scored 235 for three in their allotted 20 overs riding on a whirlwind century by Samaresh Routray (111, 41b, 13×4, 6×6). He was well-supported by Sumit Das (59, 60b, 10×4).
Gitam were never in the chase as they were bundled out for 148 runs in 19.4 overs with Anurag Prustry (4/27) shining with the ball for KIIT. Sai Dinesh (63, 28b, 10×4, 3×6) batted well for GITAM.
In an earlier game IIIT, Bhubaneswar got a walk-over as Lovely Professional University did not turn up for their Group-C encounter.
Brief scores: KIIT 235/3 (Samaresh Routray 111, Sumit Das 59) beat GITAM 148 (Sai Dinesh 63; Anurag Prustry 4/27) by 87 runs.
