Bhubaneswar, June 29: The family members of a city-based contractor who was killed June 18 protested along with the members of a pro-Dalit outfit outside the Khandagiri police station demanding arrest of the main accused who has been absconding.
The family members and the associates of Dilip Nayak (33), along with the members of Ambedkar Mission Foundation also blocked the national highway alleging the police have so far failed to nab Rajendra Barik, the main accused, who had shot dead the
contractor.
More than 100 agitators marched from Iginia Square to the Khandagiri police station to protest alleged inaction of the police.
They also met Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi and urged him to nab Barik at the earliest.
Meanwhile, Bhoi assured the relatives of Nayak that they had launched a manhunt to apprehend Barik soon.
Police have so far arrested two persons in this connection. However, Barik shot dead Nayak in broad daylight at an under-construction building site near AIIMS in Patrapada June 18, has fled from Bhubaneswar.
