KISS cruise into finals

Bhubaneswar: Defending champions KISS survived some anxious moments before scraping past Sainik School to enter the final of the Inter-School football tournament here Wednesday at the Unit-VI High School ground.

KISS won the tie-breaker 4-2 after the game had ended in a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Sushant Tudu put KISS ahead, scoring a spectacular goal with a long-range shot in the 25th minute. Sainik Shool restored parity off a penalty kick eight minutes later which Binay Hial converted.

In the shoot-out, Masang Hansdah, Sushant, Dolamani Dharua and Mahendra Soren scored for KISS. On the other hand Mrutyujeet Das was the only one to hit the target for Sainik School. However, Binay and Rahul Yadav wasted their chances.

Dula Besra’s impressive performance under the bar for KISS fetched him the player of the match prize.

Orissa spank Jharakhand

Jagadish Oram (sixth and 57th minutes) and Jadunath Hansdah (36th, 90th minutes) scored a brace each to power Orissa thrash Jharkhand 5-0 in a match of the Sub-Junior National Football Championship at Chinsurah, West Bengal, Wednesday. Sanjay Bate also founded the back of the net in the 42nd minute.
