Kotia: Admin focus on livelihood, social security

Pottangi: With Andhra government continuing its nefarious designs on Kotia panchayat, the district administration has renewed its focus on successful implementation of various government schemes in the panchayat.

The government has become more active over last few months to ensure benefits of various schemes reach its residents.

Following a directive from the Collector, officials of all departments are seen visiting the panchayat and trying to implement the government schemes to help people turn away from freebies being offered by the Andhra government.

The officials of the animal husbandry department are exploring ways to create livelihood for people. The officials have encouraged local residents to take up goat rearing and poultry with loan linkage.

The department imparted training to 54 people on artificial insemination of goats. Local residents were encouraged to take up poultry and loan assistance.

The officials said to make farmers self-sufficient, each will be provided with chicks along with loan assistance. Earlier, the Andhra government provided pension of Rs 2,000 to Kotia people in a bid to win their support.

Meanwhile, the block administration has focused on successful execution of its social security scheme like old age pension in the fringe villages.

The administration has provided pension money to people in Kurudipadar, Uperganjeipadar, Talaganjeipadar, Kotia, Janiguda, Ranasingh, Uperponiki, Talaponiki, Dhuipadar, Upersembi, Talasembi, Suliamari, Talakanti, Salempadar, Kodiambe, Phulapadar, Katraguda, Madkar, Talabarabandha, Uparabarabandha, Thuria.

Karanjaguda, Taupadar, Mathlamba and Gumelpadar. As many as 657 people were handed out Rs 3.89 lakh as pension while Rs 3.79 lakh was credited into the accounts of 607 beneficiaries through DBT.

Moreover, the administration has initiated a process to extend banking facility in the area.

It has taken a step to facilitate opening of a national bank’s branch at the panchayat headquarters so that beneficiaries would get their pension directly in their bank accounts.

Collector Abdaal M Akthar has directed officials to pay pension to beneficiaries at their doorsteps till the opening of the bank.
