Bhubaneswar: Hearing a writ petition filed by the State government over Kotia border row with Andhra Pradesh, the apex court Friday allowed four weeks time to Odisha to file its response.
According to sources, the counsel for Andhra government argued during the hearing, “By no stretch of imagination can it be stated that there was a breach of undertaking or of any order passed by the Supreme Court, and the contempt petition should be junked.”
Odisha government’s counsel Vikas Singh later sought four weeks time. The counsel for Andhra Pradesh Mahfooz Nazki consented to it saying that he has no objection in this regard.

Subsequently, the top court adjourned the matter for four weeks.
Notably, the Supreme Court had asked Andhra Pradesh February 12 to file its response on the plea filed by Odisha seeking contempt action against senior officials of the southern state over notifying panchayat polls in three villages of the petitioner state.
