Bhubaneswar: NDA’s Presidential nominee Ram Nath Kovind will arrive here Friday to meet MLAs and MPs of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seeking their support during the upcoming presidential elections July 17.
Though BJD has extended its support to Kovind for the presidential elections, Kovind will address the Law makers of both the parties separately.
The NDA nominee will address all the MLAs and MPs of ruling BJD on the Assembly premises, said sources. The ruling party has asked its legislators and parliamentarians to remain present at the Assembly Conference Hall at 11.45am Friday.
Kovind, on the other hand, will meet the legislators of the saffron party at around 2.50pm Friday at BJP legislature party leader KV Singh Deo’s residence in the Capital.
Lunch for Kovind has been arranged at Chief Minister’s residence at 1.30pm while the presidential candidate is also scheduled to garland statues of freedom fighters and leader of Paika Rebellion at 2.40pm at state guesthouse.
Kovind will leave for New Delhi at 6pm, sources added.
While BJD instantly extended its support to Kovind, it is yet to clear its stand regarding vice-president elections.
Regarding support to Opposition vice-presidential nominee Gopal Krishna Gandhi, BJD MLA Debasish Samantray said the party supremo will clarify on the issue after holding discussions with senior party leaders.
